|
On Sunday, August 12, 2001, the American Civil War Society is having a Picnic, Ice Cream Social and Afternoon Cotillion at Heritage Park in Santa Fe Springs. All units are encouraged to attend and bring their families and a picnic lunch. Period Dress please. There will be a photographer there to take images of our "Women Of The Civil War" (see below for information). Bar-B-Que grills are available for those who wish to do some grilling. Ice Cream and Band will be
provided. This is a great opportunity for all members to socialize
in a relaxed atmosphere and get to know other members and their
families. All that is asked is a small fee of $3.00 for
individuals (3 yrs and up), $5.00 for couples or $10.00 for the whole
family to help off-set the cost of the Ice Cream and the Band.
Please make your reservation by making your check out to ACWS and
sending it to: For additional information call: Robin Young at (562)691-9945 or Connie Green at (909)874-7227
Following is an open letter from Earl Echelberry to all our ladies. This is a photographic opportunity you do not want to pass up "WOMEN OF THE CIVIL WAR" With the completion of latest photographic project "Living Legends", (in which one of the images was accepted into Professional Photographer of America's International General Collection), I am preparing to launch my new project "Women of the Civil War." Though at this writing the criteria for the selection of the images is still being revised, there are a few requirements that have been settled upon. I'm looking for women in period dress that represent the daily lives of the women of that era. I would like to cover every aspect of dress, from Ball Gowns to Gardening Clothes, from uniforms to everyday dress, from the lowest level of society to the highest. I prefer that the dress be representative of that period, however, if a part is not of the period I would need to be informed so that in the creation of the portrait it doesn't show. Each individual portrait session will last approximately fifteen minutes, in which we will create six images in two or three poses. Props, like a parasol, cane, purse, flowers, musical instruments, tools, or any personal item which adds to the character are encouraged but not necessary. All participants in this project will receive a 5x7 portrait. This will be given out at the next encampment, which is held in Huntington Beach. I look forward to seeing you at the picnic on August 12th. Those interested can either inform Connie Green or email me a message. Email to: Earl Echelberry Earl E. Echelberry
